Peter graduated from Sydney University in 1967 with a Batchelor of Science Honours degree and has worked continuously as a practising geologist in numerous roles in Australia and overseas. He has extensive knowledge and experience in exploration, development and production aspects of the mining industry using a wide variety of geological and geophysical techniques; supervision and implementation of large exploration programs with annual budgets in excess of AU$18 million; provision of technical and commercial advice to client companies; target generation and country studies; exploration and evaluation of numerous deposit styles and commodities in a wide variety of geographical and geopolitical environments.
Peter is a former member of the VALMIN committee.
He has commercial experience in the negotiation of a large and diverse range of joint venture and acquisition/divestment agreements; preparation of technical reports for public documents such as prospectuses, information memoranda and documents associated with mergers, acquisitions and divestments; involvement in due diligence studies and reviews; negotiation with government departments; preparation of mining and exploration project valuations; involvement in the formation and subsequent public listing of an exploration company.
Peter was instrumental in the formation of an ASX-listed Mineral Exploration Company – Equatorial Resources Limited. He has been General Manager-Exploration of a mid-sized mining and exploration company with a geological staff of over 50 professionals, a member of the executive management committee overseeing the company’s production and exploration operations and is the Managing Director of his own mining industry consulting company.

Mike Lawrence

Mike is an economic geologist with some 48 years’ international Minerals Industry experience, who provides independent valuations of exploration and mine properties, project technical audits and dispute resolution solutions.  He specialises in due diligence and mineral property technical appraisals and valuations in an ADR or litigation context, involving a very wide range of commodities [eg, coal, iron ore, base metals, nickel, gold, bauxite, phosphate, aggregates, industrial minerals, dimension stone and gemstones.

He has been a mining and geological consultant to the metalliferous, coal and quarrying industries as CEO of international resource consultancies’ regional operations [eg, the French Government’s BRGM/SEREM and the UK Robertson Group], until 1991 when he founded Sydney-based Minval Associates.

He has been widely recognised by the Industry as an independent, highly ethical expert (MICA Medal, Honorary Fellow AusIMM & FAIG, 1999, President AusIMM and its Beryl Jacka Award recipient).

He authored 99 technical papers (to end 2013), particularly on aspects of valuation, due diligence, risk, ethics and professional liability.  He has made major contributions to AusIMM’s VALMIN Code since 1991 and development of AusIMM/MICA Alternate Dispute Resolution Scheme.  Appointed 2008 to NSW Ministerial Land Access Arbitration Panel (reappointed to June 2017).

Tony Osman is a Chartered Professional Geologist with over 40 vears’ experience in coal and minerals exploration and evaluation, as well as government aid and development programs. He has been involved in business development activities in Indonesia including mining and industry management information systems and human resources development. He has been a consultant for some 20 years of that time.

He has been involved in coal exploration and deposit evaluation for over 35years covering all of Australia (in particular the Bowen Basin of Queensland and the Collie Basin in WA) and Indonesia (in particular Kalimantan and Sumatra). He has reviewed anthracite deposits in North Vietnam. He has been involved in base metal exploration in Australia, Papua New Guinea (including the Bougainville Porphyry Copper-Gold project). Tony has also worked on diamonds in Kalimantan, opal in NSW, lateritic nickel in Indonesia, bauxite (Australia and Indonesia), iron ore (Indonesia and Cambodia) and general review studies.

Inter alia, he has worked for CRA Exploration. BP Australia Coal, ARCO Australia (the first Australian national to be appointed Chief Geologist) and in 1981 posted to Indonesia to establish the entire operations of PT ARUTMIN Indonesia as its first employee and first general manager/exploration manager. This company was Indonesia’s very first Coal Contractor company. Anaconda Indonesia (as General Manager), ACIL as Deputy Team Leader in Kefamenau (West Timor) on an Australian Government rural aid project.

Major clients during his consultancy/contracting years have included Alfred McAlpine International (UK). Austrade (Jakarta), Baker & McKenzie (Singapore-expert advisor), Cyprus Australia Coal, Department of Mineral Resource (NSW), NSW Coal Compensation Board, Peabody (USA), BHP-Billiton (Indonesia) and SRK Consultants.

Other groups such as AME Mineral Economics, Cambrian Resources, GRM International (Australian Government foreign government capacity building programs), Landau Corporation (New York), Herald Resources, PT Mincom lndoservices, PT Minindo Darmasakti Anugerah, New Minerals Corporation, Straits Resources, PT Vietmindo Energatama, White Mining, Xenolith Gold, Lion Resources, Kimberley Oil and Gulf Alumina have also engaged his services.

He is a past Member of the NSW Coal Compensation Board (the fourth Independent Member) and a Councillor of The AusIMM 1990-98 (including two years as Councillor Representing Overseas). He provides liaison services between The AusIMM and MICA with IMA (Indonesian Mining Association), PERHAPI (The Association of Indonesian Mining Professionals) and PII/BKT (Indonesian Inst. Eng/Minin Manpower Section).

He is a past Executive member of the NSW Coalfield Geology Council. Currently Director, MICA Inc, Past Chairman, Sydney Branch AusIMM, Past Director – International Service, Rotary Club of Lindfield.

With more than 20 years experience in the New South Wales and Queensland coal industries Geoff has a background in both open cut and underground operations, new mine development and the preparation of feasibility studies. In working for BHP, TDM (Nebo and Riverside), MIM (Newlands), Warkworth and Sinclair Knight, he has developed particular skills in the areas of dragline operations, the application of mining technologies, mineral economics, software development and project management.
Since becoming a consultant in 1990 Geoff has managed and performed: major feasibility and prefeasibility studies; technical reviews; financial studies and valuations; equipment comparisons and justifications; rehabilitation studies; and short and long term planning.

Rob is a mining engineer and management consultant with over 30 years’ experience in the design, operation and management of mines. Since 1997 he has been principal of a consulting business offering services generally in the field of mine management. Services offered include feasibility studies, mine, project and company valuations, strategic planning, industrial relations, marketing and other management services.
Rob initially started with Peko Wallsend Ltd, working in open cut and underground copper, gold and tungsten mines before moving to coal. During that time he worked in various production, engineering, supervisory and marketing positions. Joined Oakbridge Ltd in 1989, firstly being responsible for marketing (1989-1991), then development (1991-1993), and then as Managing Director (1994-1997) responsible for all operations.
During this time he gained experience at senior levels in all aspects of mine management including exploration, marketing, finance, foreign exchange, insurance, business and strategic planning, budgeting, joint ventures, industrial relations, legal, environmental management, safety and project management.
From 1994 to 1997, Rob was on the NSW Minerals Council Executive and Chairman of their Environmental Committee. From 1993 to 1997 he was on the boards of the coal terminals at both Port Kembla and Newcastle and involved in all aspects of coal transportation from mine to customer. In 1992 and 1993 he was also Managing Director of Great Northern Mining NL a listed alluvial miner.
